An interesting though tiresome flight on the C130 but it was good to be
on our way! Below is some rather shaky
video of the Herc flight (sorry only shot on my compact digital so
quality is dire). Cattle class C130 style
We arrived on the sea ice in Tephis bay as the sea ice in front of the
base had melted out exceptionally early this year.
From here we were whisked away by helicopter to Base Mario Zucchelli, I
could really get used to this executive travel!
First impressions of MZB its a bunch of containers bolted together, but
once inside it is quite comfy and the food ain't
bad either!! (luckily I don't put on weight so could enjoy it with a
clean mind!). Meals were either a 1, 2 or 3 plate
affair accompanied by wine if you wanted it. We had an
explore on the first day around the base and walked among the
weirdly weathered rocks, more of these later. We then dropped
down to Tephis bay to inspect/look at the Twotter
runway.
